Leading Barrister for Motoring and Road Traffic Cases

Michael has great experience in motoring law, representing people, often high- profile, charged with every type of road traffic offence. Michael can provide advice and expertise at every stage of the case.

Michael understands how important your driving licence is to you, which is why his goal is always to provide the very best legal representation and keep you on the road.

Sometimes a motoring offence can be minor, but other times far more serious with consequences that are potentially devastating. Increased points on your licence will not only result in increased costs on your car insurance premiums but can also lead to an automatic disqualification from driving.

If you have been contacted by the police, or received a notice of intended prosecution, he would advise contacting him as early as possible so he can advise you accordingly and ensure the best possible outcome for you.

With over 30 years of experience, he aims to provide you with a highly skilled, efficient and discreet service.

DRINK/DRIVING

Being convicted of drink driving can have far reaching consequences.

You will be disqualified from driving, receive a fine and in the most serious cases, even face a possible prison sentence.

The consequences of a drink driving conviction can mean that may lose your job and the independence that a driving licence gives you.

By calling Michael Levy, you can be assured that you will have one the uk’s top Road Traffic lawyers working on your case and ensuring that you get the best possible outcome.

You can instruct Michael directly under the Direct Access scheme, without the need for a solicitor or other third party.

PENALTY POINTS

The totting up driving ban means that if you accumulate 12 points within a 3 year period, you will be facing a possible disqualification from driving. Any offences that carry penalty points are included in the totting up procedure.

The courts will listen to a plea of exceptional hardship. That means that if you would face exceptional hardship by being disqualified from driving, the court may allow you to continue driving even with 12 points or more.

With the unrivalled experience of Michael Levy, it may be possible to avoid disqualification.

SPEEDING

Michael is extremely experienced in the representation of motorists, many high profile, charged with speeding offences.

Michael is able to use his unrivalled knowledge of police enforcement technology to provide the best possible representation to those who wish to challenge any allegation of speeding made against them.

MOBILE PHONES

It’s illegal to use a hand-held phone or similar device while driving, or riding a motorcycle.

The rules are the same if you’re stopped at traffic lights or queuing in traffic.

It’s also illegal to use a hand-held phone or similar device when supervising a learner driver or rider.

You must “stay in full control of your vehicle” at all times. The police can stop you if they think you’re not in control because you’re distracted. This includes if you’re using devices like your sat nav or car radio.

When you can use a phone in your vehicle

If you’re the driver, you can only use your phone in a vehicle if you:

  • need to call 999 or 112 in an emergency and it’s unsafe or impractical to stop
  • are safely parked

Penalties for using your phone while driving

You could get 6 penalty points on your licence and a fine of £200.

Your case could also go to court and you could be disqualified from driving or riding and get a maximum fine of £1,000. Drivers of buses or goods vehicles could get a maximum fine of £2,500.
